My new blue Mets jersey has arrived

I don’t know if anyone else will care, but my blue Cooperstown Collection blue Mets jersey has arrived.  (You know you want one)

I got cocky and got the large instead of the XL.  If you see someone stuffed into one of these and you think that “that guy could stand to lose a few” it’s probably me.   Opening Day I will likely rock the “2000’s decade” pinstriped Mets Police #86.  It has black dropshadow…don’t yell at me, yell at Jeff Wilpon…plus it was a very nice gift from my cousin.

By the way, say the 2011 Mets wore something like this (in place of black alt’s), say with buttons – don’t you think they’d sell a few?  I’m here to help you Dave Howard.  Make some cash.  The guys who wanted black Franco jerseys already have them.

  1. Hey, speaking of 2011. Will the Mets celebrate the 50th anniversary (like 25 in ’86), or will they wait till 2012 (like 40 in ’02)? Any thoughts?

  2. Congrats! My new favorite jersey is an authentic ’83 blue alt Darryl Strawberry I scored off of ebay a few months ago for a steal.

    1. if nothing else I expect we’ll see patches in ’11 and ’12…then in ’13 they can honor the ’73 team, ’14 is kinda nothing (45 years of the 1969 team, eh, wait til 50).

  3. There’s a number of players one can customize the jerseys with (Saberhagen? Really?) but not Hernandez … anyone know why? I remember it was a long time before you could get Hernandez jerseys from Mitchell & Ness (have both the 86 and and alt 83 now)
It really is a sweet looking jersey, kindles my mid-80’s nostalgia.
