I’m waking up hearing that Cliff Lee is heading to New York. For a catching prospect.
The Yankees don’t even need Cliff Lee. They will make the playoffs anyway. Cashman is worried about three starts in October. That’s that “win the World Series” mentality I talk about sometimes.
The Mets could use him. You’re a Mets fan, I wont bore you with why.
The championship is there for the taking. I think Lee gets the Mets to the end. I like this team, more than I have liked any Mets team since they traded for Juan Samuel.
Lee brings excitement. Sells tickets. Winning sells tickets. 30,000 the other night. In year 2 of a new stadium with a home grown team.
If Lee comes to Yankees Town – wow.

In other thoughts, this is a good weekend to Show Up At Shea’s Successor.
The fun pitchers are going, there are giveaways, and it’s a battle for first place. The weather wont be beach weather so why not join me out in Flushing. I will be out there on Saturday. I haven’t decided which jersey yet.
Don’t forget the Mets Police Giveaways Tip: unless you are early enter through the RF gate or the Bullpen Gate. Everyone heads to LF or the Rotunda. The giveaway stuff seems to last a little longer at the other gates.
I won’t kill Omar if Cliff Lee goes to another team that makes a better offer to Seattle than the Mets could match. But if the Mariners end up with a bunch of fringe prospects and the Mets end up with Ted Lilly (or worse), I’m not going to be a happy camper.
I’ll be driving down from Boston (NJ transplant) solo on Saturday…figured why the hell not? Going to grab the cheapest ticket and roam the park for the game. If you want a shot of a vintage (sans black drop-shadow) Olerud tee, I’m your guy. Now if I would just commit and wear an ear-less batting helmet… (I’m “this” close to ordering one from ebay)
I am more worried about trying to win the NL east than the yankees getting Cliff Lee.

the evil empire must be shaking at its foundation knowing they only have a 2 game lead on the Rays.
I bet a salary cap will be introduce in a couple of years.
