The 1978 New York Mets Yearbook

Now we’re into the age that I remember.  Although we’re looking at Angel’s yearbook collection, I own this one myself.  The price has crept up to $1.25 (25% increase after trading Tom Seaver, are you insane?).  I think this one has the cool Old Timer’s Day recap – from when the Mets had Mays, Joe D, the Duke and maybe it was Mantle?  I have to dust off my chocolate stained version of this.

Dad. whereever you are your $1.25 clearly made an impression on me.  Thanks!

  1. John “The Monster is out of the Cage” Stearns on the cover. He busted his ass for terrible Mets teams, and brought swagger to a franchise that desperately needed it. I’d love to lock him in a room with Oliver Perez and see what happens.

  2. John Stearns baby!!..a worthy successor to the great jerry grote and a nice guy to boot. when i worked at shea those terrible met team years he would always talk to me or say hello when i passed him in the tunnel or saw him on the field.

  3. Stearns is/was a good guy. I met him at a batting range when I was 10 or so and told him I was a catcher. He gave me a free catching clinic right there.
