The ‘already legendary’ Bobby Bonilla’s 1992 pledge

More “generic content” because I’m busy with Real Job, but that doesn’t mean that it isn’t good.

NJ Baseball found an old magazine article in which the “already legendary” Bobby Bonilla pledged $500 per RBI.   Check out NJ Baseball for a photo of the actual article.

I think the use of legend here is not in the “Babe Ruth” way but more in terms of something fictional – like the Loch Ness Monster, or the guy with the hook that is at every summer camp, or perhaps the legend that the Mets are paying Bonilla $1 million a year from 2011-2035.  Oh wait, that one is true! (Now let me show you my claw.)

Does anyone else feel like booing?  Too bad the Mets will never have Negative Old Timer’s Day.  I’d love to boo Bobby, Vince Coleman and some others.

Next up, a cool Keith Hernandez article I found from 1999.  See ya in an hour.
