Commands respect, ignores contracts, Torre-like

Good morning Mets fans,

Heard both Howie and Keith complimented the Mets fans who showed up at Citi last night…that was nice of them.

Was also nice to see the the 2010 era pinstripes (I am not calling them retros).

In the leadoff spot this morning, here’s a brain teaser for you…name this manager:

(He) had the respect of the clubhouse and showed he could handle a big-city managerial gig, which comes with intense scrutiny.

(He) also disregarded players’ contracts, including burying (starting infielder) last week even with (backup type) nursing a quadriceps injury and rookie (backup) in a funk.

He also deftly handled the media, drawing favorable comparisons to Joe Torre for that ability.  (He) showed a keen sense of humor and didn’t mind sharing the logic behind his strategic in-game decisions regardless of how the moves turned out.

Sound like someone you’d want?  Here’s who it is.
