Call me when Ed Kranepool owns the team

I’m sorry but I find This story in the Post that MLK III and Ed Kranepool are going to buy a piece of the Mets to be silly.

I don’t know either man but it just seems like a random collection of names that makes for a space filler article that allows for a dream pun in the headline. Oh and the article works in Jackie Robinson too.

So why am I mentioning it? I wanted to ignore it but I have been doing this long enough that I know everyone else will write about it and then I will feel left out.

….

Other stuff I don’t wanna mention includes the bar in Brooklyn that has named itself Shea Stadium. Try blogging about Shea Stadium concerts and watch that gum up your Googling.

  1. Wouldn’t mind Ed Kranepool or Donn Clendenon Jr. being part of the ownership because of their past relationships with the team, but think that allowing folks, such as Martin Luther King III, into team ownership who have neither a history with MLB or, specifically this team, merely to be a token for minority ownership would only serve to be a distraction or lightning rod because he is straying from his unrelated core mission. There are too many better qualified people who are minority business people that would be a really good fit for this that MLB should not settle for a “face” such as MLK III for such a position. IMHO.
