Mets hope to sell 25% by June – WSJ.com

What an exciting morning to be a Mets blogger.

The New York Mets hope to complete the sale of up to a 25% stake by the end of June, according to a person involved with the planned transaction, as the baseball team seeks funds to make up for a potential settlement related to investments with fraud figure Bernard Madoff.

  1. I’m looking forward to the start of the season more than ever – it seems like all there is to talk about these days are the Mets’ finances, whether Jose Reyes will still be a Met after July 31st and whether Mike Piazza can be linked with steroids. I know none of those storylines will be going away anytime soon, but it would be nice to sprinkle some actual baseball conversations in.
