My Mets Weekend

Hey guys. That’s right it is your old buddy Media Goon(@mediagoon and media [email protected] if you need to find me) filling in for Mr. Shark. This weekend was crazy. Of course you guys know I was at the No Hitter Friday night(can read about it here if you haven’t already), was also at the Complete Game shutout Saturday(won on contest for free tickets on twitter from a Mets ticket Representative), and Sunday went to go see the Mets HOF Induction of John Franco. I have tons of pics and video from Sundays game and Blogger Tailgate that was hosted by Brian Erni and Vinnie Cartiglia of MetsBlog. Thanks guys for throwing it together. Of course, the usual suspects were there Kerel(On the Black), Randy (Read the Apple), Darren(The7Line) and a mess of people from twitter. It was a good hang with these guys.

Yes, the black jerseys appeared, but Shannon said it was acceptable due to The Treaty of Flushing and to the fact that is the jersey most associated with Franco.

Since I graduated SJU in ’98 I’ll throw this one up here.

Shannon and I have been talking in the past few months on how Citi Field feels like “home” now and it really does. Mets had their first “Big Memory” at Citi Field, the Mets are winning, people are buzzing in the stands, more Mets gear is being worn out in the “wild”. It’s fun watching this team. I like the fact that this site and twitter brings us together when we are at the stadium. It’s like a neighborhood where people know each other and its always great to run into someone you know at a random spot in the park. I am so enjoying this time. I hope you guys are too.

Oh yeah here’s a pic of someone near and dear to Shannon wearing black.

  1. What an amazing weekend for you and Met fans in general. I have to say experiencing the no-hitter with the twitter Mets family was awesome. I was out running errands Friday night became aware of the no-no in progress and immediately went on to twitter and spent the rest of the night experiencing history with the twitter family while watching Johan finish it off.

Just wanted to share with you guys a little bit about my weekend. Went to the game Saturday with my dad then my wife threw a surprise birthday party for me at Strawberry’s. Darryl himself came by to wish me a happy birthday and gave me a signed bat. In addition, my wife had a Mr. Met head cake made for me. The entire restaurant staff was telling me how awesome the cake was, even the Yankee fans.

What a great weekend to be a fan of this organization.

  2. I agree that Citi Field is getting that homey feeling more and more, it could be that its finally starting to be worn in, frequent fans know their way around, memories of Shea are starting to fade into the past, etc.; hopefully this translates into a home field advantage and a post season trip would really help.
