Is it time to start the Terry-Watch Watch?

I am no starting a Terry Watch (that’s where we watch the media turn and harp until Terry is fired) but I’m wondering I’d it’s time to start the Terry-Watch Watch.

That’s where we keep an eye to see if the media starts throwing in comments here and there. After losing three to the Rockies I can argue that it’s not unwarranted. It’s not like anything is working so it isn’t like we’re talking about getting rid of Joe Torre in the summer of 2001.

On the other hand I don’t know who the hell Terry is supposed to play. Nobody hits. Nobody. Nobody pitches other than (stealing a line here) two and a half men. You could be me in the dugout (as you know I am a top-shelf manager) and I have no ideas for you.

I don’t think “Wally Backman” or Miller Huggins or Joe Torre or Bob Geren can do anything with this roster.

And yet, the Watch Watch may be coming. Your move typewriters.

  1. That requires paying too much attention to a media that’s both predictable and boring. They’ll get there though.

Could not bring in Frank Francisco into a close game in the 8th or 9th. That’d be a start right now. Especially when you’ve got Bobby Parnell just sitting there.

  2. I doubt Backman could turn this into a playoff team, but he’d bring some much needed sack to this club.

I *am* getting a little tired of Collins saying, “That’s not how we play the game,” night after night. I beg to differ, Terry. That is EXACTLY how your team is playing the game. Valdespin shouldn’t have seen the field the day after he slid into first. Yea, I know: “Who else are you going let pinch it in that spot?” Well, you’re getting swept by the Rockies. Does it really freakin’ matter? At least get a point across while you’re losing.

  3. If the Astros sweep the Mets this weekend, too… maybe we’ll start to see rumblings then. Unless you can have the ghost of Casey Stengel come back to manage, I don’t see a point in making a change. (Ghost of Casey would be worth it for the entertainment value alone.)
