Yeah, Yeah I’m a Murphy fan, I’ll admit that right away. What I want to know, is Zobrist that much of an improvement over Murphy? Murphy can play the same positions that Zobrist does. Okay fine maybe he doesn’t play second as well but he’s still not the worst second baseman in the league. Is Murphy going to hit HRs like he did in the playoffs? I doubt that. But, what you do have with Murphy is a guy that is a tough out, gets on base, hits doubles and has a fire when he plays. Hell he even has a fire in the dugout when he is watching the game. You can tell he loves the game. He loves playing the game. He is younger then Zobrist and if the Mets gave Murphy a four year deal, he’d be a free agent at 35. The Mets give Zobrist a four year deal he’ll be 38. Do we need another AARP recipient playing for out Mets? They already have Mr. Cuddyer( I was told to respect my elders, even if he is younger then me) for this year and I don’t want to have Mr. Cuddyer to hand off his walker to Zobrist. In the grand scheme of things it’s not what I think would work better but what the Mets think will work better for their wallets. Come on Mets Surprise me. Get us fans back to the World Series this year. If you don’t sign Murphy at least get an upgrade at second not just do a lateral move.
