Ticket Prices Rising as Mets Heat Up, Face Top Teams in May

After a slow start, the New York Mets (16-8) have won nine of ten games. While New York’s starting rotation always garners headlines, the play of Michael Conforto has energized many fans. Conforto, who has suddenly secured the 3-hole in the Mets’ batting order, has clubbed four home runs and is hitting over .330. Credit both Sandy Alderson for finding another young stud and Terry Collins for utilizing Conforto in high-leverage spots.

There’s no denying that the Mets are one of the best teams in baseball, but they haven’t been truly challenged yet. Their May schedule, however, will present numerous tests; New York will embark upon an 11-game road trip and will play six games against the Washington Nationals. An overview of the New York Mets’ upcoming slate of top games is presented below.

5/7/16 at San Diego Padres | Bartolo Colon vs. James Shields | Get-in: $27

After a brief three-game home stand against the Atlanta Braves, the New York Mets will hit the road for an 11-game trip away from Citi Field. New York’s first stop will be in San Diego. The highest ticket price on this four-game slate is Saturday, May 7th, which features a projected pitching match-up between Bartolo Colon and James Shields. New York Mets tickets start from $27 for this game. All fans in attendance will receive a San Diego Padres hoodie. For those looking to escape the unpredictable weather of the NY Metropolitan area, now is the time to see the Mets as they play along the West Coast this month. On Hipmunk, flights to San Diego from New York roundtrip start at $441.

5/10/16 at Los Angeles Dodgers | Jacob deGrom vs. Kenta Maeda | Get-in: $8

After finishing a four-game set against the Padres, the Mets will head north to face the Los Angeles Dodgers for a four-game set. Based on projected pitching match-ups, New York will likely miss Clayton Kershaw’s scheduled start, so that bodes well for New York’s series chances. The best projected pitching match-up on this set is between Jacob deGrom and Kenta Maeda. deGrom (3-0, 1.02 ERA) has been dominant this season and went 2-0 at Dodger Stadium in the NLDS last season, so expect him to be comfortable in this setting. Kenta Maeda (3-1, 1.41 ERA) has been one of the best stories of the young season. All fans that attend this game will receive a ‘Vin Scully Avenue’ t-shirt. This series presents another ‘getaway’ chance for New York fans. Hotels in Los Angeles start at $64 per night on Hipmunk.

5/15/16 at Colorado Rockies | Jacob deGrom vs. Tyler Chatwood | Get-in: $13

The Mets will finish off their 11-game road trip with a three-game series at Coors Field with Jacob deGrom projected to get the ball in the final game. All fans that attend the May 5th game will receive a ‘Ball & Bat’ set from the Rockies. Ticket prices start at just $13 on the secondary market.

5/17/16 vs. Washington Nationals | Max Scherzer vs. Noah Syndergaard | Get-in: $16

The Mets will have to remain focused once they return to the Big Apple because the Washington Nationals will be coming to town. The projected pitching match-up for the first game of this series could be Max Scherzer vs. Noah Syndergaard. Scherzer went 1-2 with a 1.81 ERA against the Mets last season. Syndergaard went 1-0 in three start against Washington last season.

5/28/16 vs. Los Angeles Dodgers | Clayton Kershaw vs. Matt Harvey | Get-in: $26

The Los Angeles Dodgers will make their first and only trip to Citi Field in late May. When the Dodgers come to New York, ticket prices tend to increase due to their previous ties to Brooklyn. Mets vs. Dodgers tickets start at $26 for second game of this three-game set. Fans should head to the ballpark early because the 1986 Mets will be honored before the game. This game could also feature a pitching match-up between Clayton Kershaw and Matt Harvey.

5/29/16 vs. Los Angeles Dodgers | Scott Kazmir vs. Steven Matz| Get-in: $27

The Mets and Dodgers will finish their three-game set on Sunday, May 29th. All fans in attendance will receive a 1986 Championship replica ring.
