Discussing the M word

Murphy Nationals
I didn’t get to this yesterday, but let’s talk about the M word.

As long-time readers know, Danie Murphy is my favorite active player even if he is temporarily out of town.

People lose their minds when I mention him on Twitter. These same folks talked about Reyes for years, even into last season, before the domestic violence charge finally put that to rest.

You may have noticed Murph is off to a pretty great start. He even has been homering off my 27th favorite Met (the 24 other active players plus Flores and Wheeler).

(Update – I was reminded Duda is on the DL so make that 28th favorite Met)

When Murph does well people ask me about it.

When the Mets need a 1B people ask me about Murph.

When it looks like the Mets need a long term solution at third, people ask me about Murph.

Sandy didn’t want Murph so Murph is gone. The Mets are in first or almost first so it’s hard to give Sandy too much guff.

The other night (Harvey Day!) I didn’t even mention the M word. I’m trying to ramp down off it. It’s hard to do so when the storyline is how the Mets could use a consistent bat at first or maybe even third.

I can think of a guy….
