Meanwhile, you guys are a little nutty with your love of Jose Reyes, proving once and for all you can do whatever you want as long as you can hit well or pitch well. I’d be curious to see what would happen to Jose should he tear up a Brazilian bathroom or perhaps sit during the national anthem. You guys won’t care. Jay Bruce however is 4 minutes away from being a pariah. Suit yourselves Mets fans.

I’m not defending domestic violence, but in the absence of evidence of ongoing problems, is it really that “nutty” to give him the benefit of the doubt that it was a grievous mistake on his part that he has addressed and perhaps moved on from, with his wife? (This does happen. People make mistakes and correct them.) And that in the meantime he is still the most exciting player the Mets currently have and produces offense sometimes singlehandedly, and is a lot of fun to watch play?
And are you really saying that we should all be supporting Jay Bruce being a black hole in the lineup just because he’s a nice guy who has never hit his wife (that we know about)? Why are we even bothering to root for a baseball team then?
