#QBC18 live blog

Hello. I will use this post to bring you today’s QBCing. Come back for updates.

11:29 quiet before the storm

12:22 the Chris Flexen Panel

13:35. Flexen is quite likeable. If he had a superhero nickname it would be Wolverine. If he could have another number of his choice, numbers he likes are 27 and 33 but let me be very clear that he was quite respectful of the current owners of those numbers and knows they are not going to become available.

12:48 when asked who is looking forward to pitching to Flex took a beat and said it would be pretty awesome to face the Yankees.

1:47 Mets Trivia is tons of fun.

1:00 SNY Hot Stove Live.

2:46 Hundley having a good time with Ted Berg. I also did 41 minutes with Jason for a podcast.

2:48 Hundley says Jeff Torborg was too nice and the 92-93 teams needed someone tougher and guys took advantage.

1:52 SNY guys grab Todd Hundley early.

2:55 Hundley talking about Piazza – I couldn’t play so yeah go get the best player in baseball.

3:17 the state of the Mets panel is rolling.

4pm the Meet the Mets Executives pane. Weird for me not to be doing it (long story, my choice, all good seriously)

Nice to hear Mark Fine discuss the Mets’ need to tap into Generation Z. See, you twitter people telling me I’m wrong – Mets are on it.

Wil Carafelo who runs social media says he reads all our comments and gets a laugh. I better pretend to be @ceetar again.

4:08 Mark says from a marketing standpoint the best age for your team to win the World Series is age 8. Makes sense to me – as I have mentioned I became a fan in 77 when I was 8. Although the Mets were not the NY team that won it that year.

Mark says the giveaways go from 15000 to 25000

The TBD shirt is being designed by Marvel

Star Wars Night will have a Han Solo Mr. Met bobblehead (Mr in the Falcon)

Mark was asked about Seaver statue and crowd cheers. Mark gives a solid respectable answer that boils down to that he and Will are not the guys who handle that.

The annual question about Saturday day games gets asked. Mark says research shows them the later the better especially for group sales.

Mark says quite affirmative the Mets will honor 1969 in 2019. He had said that last year at QBC. I was the moderator so I remember it.

4:45 Brandon Nimmo is quite likeable and handled the McCutchen question very well. Upbeat guy lots of charisma. If he’s got game he could be a major star in this town.

Look at all the happy Mets fans!

5:19. “Guys I’m from Wyoming, thats cold!” Nimmo talking about New Year’s Eve

He says nobody else would agree to be Santa so the Mets turned to him on desperation.

The crowd and I love this guy. You should too.

His goal for the season? “Win a World Series.” It was a genuine no hesitation answer.

The uniform panel wraps the day. The guy on the right is Russ from Stitches who does the Mets jerseys and the QBC jerseys. Check out his Dolphins colored Mets jersey (with a Dolphins patch)

And that’s a wrap on the day. As always a nice January touch of baseball. Great job by @mediagoon and @dtwohig putting this together.

More thoughts tomorrow and some longer content in the next few days.
