When Mets Fans would root for the opposing pitcher, Tom Seaver

We’ve been talking a lot about the original Next Seaver a lot today, and how a lot of the fanbase is too young to have seen him ever pitch.  In the afternoon I brought up how we would all flock to Shea to see him pitch AGAINST the Mets, and just, um, root for a good game.

Well kids, here’s a cool video from August 21, 1977.  46,225 are on hand to see Tom Seaver return to Shea Stadium and a good game we got! (That’s back when we counted actual fannies in the seats as attendance kids, not this tickets sold nonsense that the AL started. Look it up Millennials. 46,000 actual people to see the 1977 Mets. You can’t even draw that in 2018.  Well you actually can’t, Citi isn’t that big.)

Jerry Koosman would start for the Mets (wow Seaver VS Koosman, that’s exciting 41 years later).  Jerry would give up 2 runs in 7.1 but the former Franchise would throw a complete game one run 11K gem because he’s the Actual Next Seaver not this ridiculous bullpen guy you tried to call the Next Seaver.

AND they did it TWO HORUS AND TWENTY ONE MINUTES.

Tell me that game isn’t a billion times better than the modern version.

It’s a fun video. Bounce around and you’ll even see women dancing on top of the Shea dugouts…wait what?
