This tweet is really gonna mess with my @mrmet timeline

Hmmm

So Mr. Met is acknowledging the existence of Kay-C.

But clearly the Mr. Met seen at the ballpark isn’t the same Mr. Met we saw in the 1960’s.

So here’s my best shot at a ret-con

1960’s:  Mr. Met is in a relationship of some sort with Kay-C.  They have son named Plato, and a dog Homer.

1960’s:   The relationship with Kay-C ends and Mr. Met begins dating Lady Met.

1960’s:   The current Mr. Met and a sister are born.  Maternal parent unknown.

1970’s:    Mr. Met and Lady Met marry, she becomes Mrs. Met

1970’s:    The Met family retires and is succeeded by a mule.

1990’s:    Plato Met takes over the Mr. Met job at Shea Stadium.  Plato Met (aka Mr. Met 1.5) was a wild eyed type, rumored to be a party animal and is quickly encouraged to find something else to do (the “Hank Steinbrenner” of mascots.)

1990’s:    The younger son of Mr. Met takes over the family business.  He is married and has three children.   The whereabouts of his sister are unknown.

Whoa @MrMet has some explaining to do

What the heck?  Who are these other family members?  (Low crown cap tip to @uniwatch and Bonnie Skibins)

I kind of like that they (it’s not a ret-con, it’s just canon…canonized?) Homer into being Mr. Met’s dog.

But who is Kay-C Met?  We know Mr. Met Senior pal’d around with Lady Met.  Perhaps Kay-C is his sister?  And who is this Plato.  Is that the given name of our current mascot?  Is he Plato Met?  But our current mascot had an older brother (aka Mr. Met 1.5) – so maybe the lad on the sweatshirt is Plato Met who grew up to be a wild-eyed party animal who wasn’t up to taking over the family business?

Kay-C Met and Plato are turning up nothing on the interwebs. I have never heard of either.  Anyone?

That’s right: Seaver finished the first game in relief and then started the second game, working eight and a third innings to win again, 5-4.

Oh the things that feel like yesterday that are now 30 years ago.

Kids, Seaver was The Man. You all have your panties in a bunch over a guy with 12 wins who does;t even hold a candle to Gooden never mind this guy.  Look up his stats sometime…even in August 1986 he was still going 8 innings.  Maybe the next time the Mets will protect him on the roster.

Oh thank you internet and Chris Flinn for saving me so much work. As I watched the show last night I was thinking I should get up and grab this scene…but laziness has paid off.

I eagerly await Greg Prince from Faith and Fear to write a masterpiece about how it’s 1969 and time is passing Don by.
