Davey Johnson on Wilpon Madoff

Meanwhile Davey Johnson says

“I’ve known Fred for many years. He’s a friend of mine,” said Davey Johnson, the manager of that 1986 Mets team who attended the party. “I’m distressed to see there’s a problem. The Wilpons are very good people. I hope they come out of this all right.”

and

“As a manager you can’t worry about what’s going on in the front office or with management,” Johnson said. “You worry about the starting pitching, the bullpen. You have to get everybody ready to play, manage the system and the talent and help everybody have a great year.”

via Mets now a far cry from Davey Johnson’s 1986 World Series team, with Wilpons’ woes and recent losing.

Amen Davey – let’s play ball and let me know who owns the team during the tickertape parade.

That’s 4 or 5 posts for me before 9am.  Busy morning and we’re just getting started.

The daily Wilpon Madoff update: I just don’t care

The intertubes tell me that I’m supposed to be all giddy over this Times article which I read and either didn’t understand or I knew all this already or can see into the future and didn’t actually know all this already.

Anyway, Craig Calcaterra has a nice paragraph here which explains it.

I just don’t care.  Talk to me about uniforms or Old Timer’s Day or Lee Mazzilli or something.  Sorry, I’m just done with this story and the daily Mark Cuban non-story and even the non-story about MLK and Ed Kranepool is back.
