Selig’s office paid for Bill Shannon’s funeral

Bob Raissman named Bud Selig as his dude of the week….

For paying for the funeral and burial of Bill Shannon, the veteran official scorer who died Tuesday in a fire in his West Caldwell, N.J. home

God job by Bud and good job by Bob on having the story…maybe I stink at the internet but I haven’t seen that story anywhere else.

Dodgers forget they left town 50 years ago

The Dodgers are suing Brooklyn Burger over the logo.

Look Dodgers, if you care so much about the damn logo then move back.  Seriously, shut up.   It was the same nonsense with the Brooklyn Dodger bar.  It’s over.

I hope nobody tells them about the design of Citi Field…that could really ruin Fred’s day.

“Oh, f— them! What do they have to do with Brooklyn?” said Lindi, 41. “They left Brooklyn years ago. We dont let nobody push us around. Change our logo? Oh, fuhgeddaboudit. Tell them to come down here, well straighten it all out.”

Mets Today’s manager matrix

Speaking of Lee Mazzilli…

I also think that former fan favorites Lee Mazzilli and Joe McEwing could generate a modicum of interest. And obviously, I believe that hiring Wally Backman could directly result in ticket sales. There is a large number of fans who loved Wally when he was a player, combined with many more who would pay to see what he might do — whether it’s chew out an umpire or call for a suicide squeeze.

via Since It Doesn’t Matter Who the Manager Is ….

I like linking to anything that mentions Lee Mazzilli, but the Mets Today article is pretty interesting because Joe weighs different factors and made a snazzy chart.  Good read for y’all to check out while I’m at Junior’s soccer game.

Subway Squawkers isn’t feeling the Mazzilli love

Good morning Mets fans, it’s another soccer Saturday so while I get my traditional Unnamed Donuts & Coffee and before we get to overanalzing every last work Sandy said…

But who would want Lee Mazzilli as manager of the Mets? He was fired from Baltimore for going 9-28, after being in first place for the first 2 1/2 months of 2005. He was a terrible bench coach for the Yankees, known mostly for being one of Joe Torre’s guys than for any good decision-making skills. Mazzilli couldn’t even hack it as an SNY analyst, showing zero personality. Is he somebody who can really turn the Mets around? I don’t think so.

Hmmm, I like the Sqwakers…I think I’ll just move on and keep eating my Unnamed Donuts.
