ESPN Ultimate Team Rankings: Mets #107

ESPN has announced their 2010 Ultimate Team Rankings in which they “measure how much MLB, NBA, NFL and NHL franchises give back to the fans in exchange for all the time, money and emotion the fans invest in them.”

OK sounds like my kind of thing.   Let’s check in on the Mets.

Ouch #107 of 122, down from #82 last year.

Fan Relations #102! (defined as “Openness and consideration toward fans by players, coaches and management.”)  I’m here to help David.  102 of 122.  4 ahead of the Lions.

Stadium Experience: #81

  1. Nice to see my Devils doing so well in the rankings. I have repeatedly stated that the Mets could improve the atmosphere around the team by simply copying everything the Devils do.

That being said, a high ranking in this poll and a dollar will get you a bag of chips.

    1. The thing about the Devils is that they are invisible. I have said numerous times that if Brodeur played at the garden there would be a statue on 33rd street.

3 rings, a 4th final, solid every year, the all time best at a position and yet nobody cares.

  2. The Mets are ranked the worst baseball team. That is complete bs. I know that these past few years have been rough, but come on. Also, how are the Mets ranked only one slot above the Washington Redskins in terms of likability. Perhaps someone could enlighten me on the validity of this ranking, and the reasoning behind it.

    1. I didn’t get to read the entire article yet but the main factor seems to be “bang for your buck” and it’s a combination of ticket prices and the 2009 disaster. The Saints were #1 because they win the Super Bowl, didn’t leave town, and you can drink on the street.

  3. i read these ranking every year (because i’m a masochist) and they’re complete and utter BS. seriously, ESPN needs to get out of the sport business and just call themselves E! Athletes. i wouldn’t put too much weight into this.
