This week’s Mets promotional giveaways

My favorite kind of post….cut and paste…here’s Walt (@formerdirtdart) with another solid offering.

Shannon,

OK, first things first. Giveaways for all three Phillies games??? I understand that the companies sponsoring these giveaways want butts in the seats during “their” games. But, with the number of Phillies fans that normally attend these fracases, I can’t help but feel that Mets fans (the 35,014) are getting a little cheated here.

Friday, 13 August vs. Phillies: Fiesta Latina Night/ 25,000 Johan Santana Los Mets Koosies (Phillies in town, if you’re even considering trying to score a koosie, it might be a good idea to get there kind of early)
OK, the “Los Mets” (The Mets) might be a silly jersey, but the Johan koosie is decked out in sweet pinstripes. If you get one, and decide you don’t want to keep it, forget E-bay. There’s a fat guy in Florida that would happily accept your charity.

Saturday, 14 August vs. Phillies: Irish Heritage Night/ 25,000 Mets Green Caps (Phillies game again, Saturday night game, if you want to get this giveaway cap, you might want to get there early)
OK, this “thing” is pretty odd looking with the traditional “Irish” colors of Green, White & Orange (a real Mets color too), at least it’s not black

Sunday, 15 August vs. Phillies: 25,000 Mets Lunchboxes (Again, Phillies game, but the usual Sunday getaway game start time was changed to Sunday night TV game, Mets fans may be outnumbered for this one, get there early and keep these out of the hands of some Phillies fan)
It is a “real” metal lunchbox. Immediately, I must question the sanity of handing out this potential weapon for a “Phillies game”. I guess “Bat Day” would have been too obvious.
The lunchbox is “Black” but the images look to be “Official” Mets home colors. You might even be able to blame the “Black” on the Verizon sponsorship (logo is noticeable, but not overdone). Overall, not a bad score.

Thanks Walt – don’t forget everyone that ESPN has stolen the Sunday game and it’s now Lunchbox NIGHT.   Also the Mets didn’t include green cap day in my Saturday+ package….boo…fortunately it’s one of the ugliest caps ever.

I won’t be around Friday night, so if Los Mets jerseys appear and one of you want to write up a rant just email me at [email protected] and I will post it from my phone.

In case you are a newer reader – the Los looks stupid, it’s like saying “The Mets” which they don’t do, and the Mexican league teams just have, for example, “Tigres” not “Los Tigres.”   Nueva York road jerseys (say in Arizona) would be a better look, or screw it just wear Nueva York at home once – the world won’t end.
