Las Vegas 51s sold to Summerlin group – FOX5 Vegas – KVVU

Thanks to @nickschiavo for the heads up.

I don’t think it means anything to us in Queens other than they get a nicer park.

Last month, FOX5 reported on simmering interest from the group to purchase the team and relocate the club from Cashman Field near downtown Las Vegas to an area near Red Rock Casino in the west end of the valley. The new team owners planned to build a $65 million stadium called The Ballpark at Summerlin Center as part of the move, according to the report.

  1. this article is absolutely un necessary and uncalled for. i am a huge met fan. to say that i am a front runner strictly based on the premise that i didnt go to your lame banner day makes no sense. sounds like you’re upset becuase your event was a bust. here is a suggestion..next year, maybe you shouldn’t make your beloved banner day on a day that there is endless amounts of NHL and NBA PLAYOFF games on, both sporting new york team’s. maybe a mid summer game where the weather is nicer, and the mets are doing something to show promise to the future…i.e. calling up zach wheeler or travis d’arneau given he was healthy enough. you are SO wrong for writing an article like this and i hope your journalism career takes a huge hit for being such a bitch. have a great day.

  2. I realize I am not as big a Mets fan as you, but just curious — have you ever been to a 51’s game at Cashman Field in Las Vegas? Can you provide a first-hand view of the stadium and why a new one would be an improvement?

I ask because I have been to games there — just two weeks ago in fact vs Tacoma …. got to see Zach Wheeler’s bullpen session and enjoyed it ….. sat in first row directly behind home plate.

I have to believe a die-hard Mets fan such as yourself should be able to report on this based on first-hand info and no rely on potential front-runner fans to get you the info.

Just my two cents …. have a great day.

  3. Moe Greene didn’t sell the ’51s to Saul Katz’s Lakeville Road [Exit 33 Long Island Expressway] Boys.
