Why I think the Mets will play NLDS Game 1 Friday at 8:30pm ET

MetsPolice.com NL East Champions

A twitter discussion broke out and I did some research and some guessing.

All NL playoffs are on TBS.  The A team is Ernie Johnson, Ron Darling and Cal Ripken.

The TBS website lists a game at 5pm and another at 8:30pm.  The FOX site does not list any game on October 9th.  The FS1 site only lists programming until October 6th.

So let’s focus on the NL.

My guess –

Cardinals vs. Cubs/Pirates gets the 5pm slot.

Mets vs Los Angeles, the two biggest TV markets, gets the 8:30pm ET time slot, which is 5:30 pacific.  Should do a good number for TBS.

It’s harder to figure out Game 2 because it’s a Saturday and all kinds of things can move around.  However, on both Saturday and Monday the TBS site lists games at 5pm and 8:30.

Monday is a sort of holiday, Columbus Day, so it’s possible Mets-LA sneaks into that 5pm slot.  Who knows.  And if the Dodgers get home field, that will be the first home game at Citi.

Anyway, if you have tickets to NLDS Game 1, and that game is at Citi, bundle up and have some coffee…it’s going to be a Late Night!

I didn’t look beyond Monday yet because there are too many factors such as “if necessary” and if the other series end, the game defaults to 8:30.

Tickets are still available for those looking to attend Game 3 of the NLDS, and you can also find travel accommodations at Hipmunk.com if you’re planning on going to or being in LA for Games 1 and 2.

  1. metspolice my cable box has FS1 with a 4pm game on 10/09. that’s an AL game. and CFB on 10/10 until 7:30pm. TBS at 5 & 8:30 10/09.

  2. .DyHrdMET cool thanks. So I imagine Mets-LA at 8:30, makes total sense. Personally I’d take the 5pm slot, 8:30 sucks.

  3. metspolice ya. i’m sure 75% of it will change with matchups. TBS also had 5pm on 10/10. my box ends listings before 8pm that day.
