The 5 reasons I hope MLB players do boycott Spring Training

I’m actually pro-boycott, here’s why…..

I’d like to see the players boycott and then have things get settled and then a 100 game sprint to the end.  Let’s skip March through May and get back together on June 1.

 1.  I like the Mets.

And the Mets always have health issues.  Maybe shaving 8 weeks off would play into the Mets having theoretically good starting pitching that won’t break down.  Maybe Cespedes can stay strong for the 100 game sprint.  I’m in.

2.  Honestly, I have other things to do.

Spring youth soccer.  Netflix.  Gran Turismo.  I have been enjoying not having to watch the Mets every night.  Let’s hold off until the summer when I can sit out on the deck every night.  June 1 sounds perfect.

3.  Who boycotts the boycotters?

You know all those people that are so angry at the Wilpons?  The guys that aren’t going to games and aren’t watching and all that?  It will be fun to watch them begging baseball to come back.  The boycotters being boycotted?  Comedy gold.

4.  I blog.  But I don’t blog about the games.

I like all the off-field stuff.  This could make for an interesting spring of blogging.  Definitely more interesting that “Could Player X make the Opening Day Roster” posts that most blogs will hand in.  Very exciting.

5.  Baseball is a mess anyway.

The commissioner is at least, sort of, trying to speed up the games.  The players can’t deal with a pitch clock?  Players please.  Let’s have the reckoning.  Maybe someone will listen to my plan to save baseball (you’ll hate it).  These 4 hour games with 50 pitching changes must die.  So let’s take this all nuclear and fight it out.

Now believe you me, I expect 95% of you to say all 4 of these reasons are stupid and I’m stupid and stupid stupid.  That’s fine.  It’s my blog.  I write what I like to write, not the cool trendy Narrative.
