Mets tweet mysterious pizza video…I figure it out the Wilpon twist at the end

So first the video….but stay for the reveal

So I have been doing this a long time. Why would the Mets send some guys to a pizza shop and why would this video even exist?  Seems random, no?

Nicoletta Pizza.  Well there’s one at Citi Field, but that’s too easy (thanks Dan for reminding me)   Lets visit their website.

Chef and Owner Michael White.

Lets throw the following into Google: “Michael White” Wilpon.

And….

Hmmm Robin Wilpon Wachtler...let’s google her.

Philip Wachtler could have run his budding office empire from a glitzy showpiece. Instead, he chose a headquarters in the “least desirable space in the least desirable” of the seven Island buildings managed by his firm, Wachtler Knopf Equities.

The office, says the company founder and principal, puts him closer to his tenants.

It also separates the buildings from their new owner: a unit of Sterling Equities, chaired by Wachtler’s father-in- law, Fred Wilpon.

Wachtler has been married to Wilpon’s daughter, Robin, for 18 years.

(The above is from 2006)

OK so there you have it.  Mr. White was honored at the Project Sunshine foundation gala.  Robin Wilpon Wachter, daughter of Fred Wilpon, is connected to Sunshine, a quick google showed me she was a director in 2017 (if not until this day, dunno.)

Let’s take a deep breath before we all get Irrational WIlpon Rage.

Sunshine Foundation’s sole purpose is to answer the dreams of chronically ill, seriously ill, physically challenged and abused children ages three to eighteen, whose families cannot fulfill their requests due to financial strain that the child’s illness may cause.

So all good, some money was raised, some Mets got some pizza.  Mr. White gets honored, maybe some of his friends throw some coin at the foundation, the Mets throw him a social media bone during one of the all time quiet weeks, maybe some pizza gets sold.   And money went to a good cause.  Don’t get distracted.  I even found a tax return, folks aren’t drawing salaries so don’t go there.

In addition to a silent auction, the night included live bidding conducted by C. Hugh Hildesley of Sotheby’s, on items such as a Chinatown foodie tour hosted by Andrew Zimmern and two private dinners for 12 at Michael White’s restaurant Vaucluse. Chef White personally auctioned off the two dinners, raising over $25,000 for the organization. (MyHamptonsGuide.com)

Point being, a random video, isn’t random.   Just like Players on SNY might seem to make no sense until you dig and find the connection, here too there’s a connection.

And that my friends is the Elite New York you play in when you own a baseball team and an example of why they will never sell it….and not every example means I have to break out the Stonecutters graphic.

Again let me be clear – I am not saying there is anything bad here, actually there is good here – YOU go raise a million dollars for charity – I’m just showing you a pizza video isn’t necessarily about pizza.
