Is R.A. Dickey the best Mets pitcher of the 2010s? Maybe.

Is R.A. Dickey the best Mets pitcher of the 2010s?  Maybe.

The memory gets foggy after a while.  Looking up his stats, I’m reminded that Dickey was only here for three seasons.  (Thanks Ultimate Mets Database!)

One of those seasons was a pesky 8-13, right before that magical Cy Young season.

Let’s see how he did on the leaderboard.  Obviously the stat-accumulation won’t be there, but what about things like ERA?

A 2.95 ERA in the 2010s is impressive.  An ERA under three for a knuckleballer is a miracle.  That puts him 4th, just a hair behind Syndergaard who could easily fall behind R.A. the first week of April.

He’s second overall in winning percentage, trailing only that pesky Syndergaard guy.

8 complete games catches the eye.  That leaves the decade easily as baseball murders itself with seven relievers per game.

Is R.A. Dickey the best Mets pitcher of the 2010s?   Apparently not, but he sure was one of the most enjoyable.
