Mets Police Morning Laziness: How to (not) watch today’s Mets game, plus Gil Hodges and Mickey Hodges

Someone please go to Dom Smith’s room and wake him up!  Be on time Mr. Smith!!!!!  Mickey Hodges does not mess around.

SLACKISH REACTION:  Look, I know you’re excited but listen to me.  Don’t waste your Saturday afternoon on practice baseball.  You should do whatever it is you do on Saturday and record the game.  Then when you’re home tonight with a beverage near the fireplace you can watch the file.  You’ll get one inning of semi-real baseball, with some Mets playing Guys In Braves Uniforms.  By the third inning you may actually see me paying for the Mets.  It’s not worth it.  Save your free time and don’t waste it.  This can wait until 11pm.  Even if you get spoiled.

As part of my cord-cutting I set a season pass for METS and YoutubeTV will recored every game.  As for spoilers – its Spring Training, does it really matter if you hear that the Mets beta the Braves 8-5.  No, it does not.

Here’s how you can watch or listen to all the games this week.

And since I’m not a total scummy clikbaiter, here’s the weekend info:

Saturday vs. Braves 1:10pm:   SNY, ESPN+ (interesting) and radio WCBS 880

Sunday vs Astros:  1:10pm: WPIX and radio WCBS 880

I did NOT get the MLB App this season because of the commercials level issues of the past.  MLB taught me to live without their product, and now I do.  Hopefully WCBS will not turn on the WahWah device WOR had so I can enjoy my some Howie.  Again, not today, I am not wasting a Saturday afternoon on this.

Never mind Mickey Hodges, the Post has a good story from Cleon Jones about the Gil Hodges story.  You should read it, although newspapers are really kidding themselves quoting Paul Harvey.  Nobody under 50 (49) knows who the is Mr. Newspaper.  Maybe quote Ninja next time.

“After that point,’’ Jones said, “we were a different team. I never shared this with anybody because this was between Gil and myself. But I know everybody thinks it was one of those situations where he could have handled it a little bit differently, but he had a purpose and a plan, and it worked. (via NY Post)

“So I don’t mind being part of that purpose and plan. I’m telling you guys that he is a great manager and one of my favorite people.

NOT LINKING:  All kinds of nonsense about New Philosophy, Fresh Starts and stuff you can probably eat about all 30 teams every year.  No thanks.
