Hey Gare, you might want to get out of your beach chair or college basketball game or whatever you’re doing before this “kid” steals your job! This is a fantastic call…here’s why: it’s obviously gone. Wayne, having spent lots of time around Howie, uses his intonation to let us know it’s a no doubter.
Now that we know it’s gone there’s no reason to continue to describe it. There’s no reason to mention a track or a wall or work in a catch phrase.
This call is pure joy and goodness and everything a HR call should be. It sounds like we have another great addition to our long line of great Mets broadcasters, and Wayne I hope you’re at the start of a 40 year run.
Oh, and CBS bosses…or Mark Chernoff or whoever is pulling the strings…don’t’ torture Wayne with this unspoken threat that this year is a tryout, he’s got the chops.
