Why CAA’s Skip Schumaker will be the next Mets Manager

Folks, here we have it.  Let’s stop with the nonsense of pretending Joe Girardi and the others are candidates.  The New York Post has the answer.

Schumaker, 39, played for the Cardinals, Dodgers and Reds over an 11-year major league career. He just concluded his second season as a coach with the Padres. As a player, Schumaker was a client of GM Brodie Van Wagenen’s with CAA.

And there you have it.  The Long Con.

But yeah sure 39 year old Schumaker, with no experienced, is clearly an upgrade over the now-experienced Mickey Callaway.  Schumaker is known for his bullpen mastery and in game strategy, I guess.   So yeah maybe he happens to have an agent in common with the GM but that’s just a total coincidence, Skip is the best man for the job.

So let’s cut the charade.  Stop wasting the time of Carlos Beltran and Tim Bogar and Tony Perez’ son and just admit where this is heading.  Let’s replace the (formerly) inexperienced manager with an inexperienced manager because that makes sense.

Congratulations to Skip Schumaker the next manager of the New York Mets.

Jeff, this is all on you brother.  ALL OF IT.  You let a man come in in and a nice suit and you bought was he was selling.  What he appears to be selling is jobs for his clients.

You’ve allowed the future to be traded for clients.

Jeff, you really should thank one man all day every day.  This is that man.

Ask yourself – what would the landscape be had Thunder Pete not distracted everyone all summer with Too Many Home Runs?  Say he had hit 19 HRs in a rookie season….then the Mets probably finish in 4th and people around here aren’t as calm as they are now.

Actually you should thank these guys too….

…the guys who approved the baseballs, allowing Pete to distract the fans from The Long Con.

This is all on you Jeff.  All on you.

For fans of the Morning Laziness, this started out as the Morning Laziness and then escalated into a more lengthy piece.  The ML would have just been a shorter version of this with some comments  on how there’s nothing going on. So consider this your ML.
