SLACKISH REACTION: Did you watch MLS Cup? 69,000+ attended the game (hi baseball!), with another 20,000 were on some sort of waiting list for tickets. Nice tight two hours. 3pm in the afternoon (hi baseball). Very very enjoyable, and congrats to the Seattle Sounders – they have a great fanbase and always draw big crowds for their team. Good for them, good for MLS.

Brown needs to trade Snoopy. The only way they are going to be able to rebuild is by dealing from strength. Linus can play SS for a year until Rerun gets a little older and then can play the position. Meanwhile, the Red Sox are dangling Mookie Betts, and I know you idiots think Snoopy is a HOFer, but if you don’t do Snoopy for Betts you are a fool.

But wait, there IS news. Darryl Strawberry gets it! the headlines are that he has “advice” for Pete Alonso….
“Everybody is going to want him to hit 50 home runs every year, even 60 home runs,” Strawberry told me, “but that is not a real reality.” (via NY Post)
That’s right Darryl. It is NOT reality. And what’s going to happen is that baseball is going to return to using normal baseballs and the MAJOR STATISTICAL ANOMALY will not hold. Pete will hit 28 home runs and the fan base is going to turn on him. In many ways, his rookie season may be his doom in this town.
In other Mets news, SNY’s Fomerly MetsBlog abandoned their clickbait ways and actually wrote a straight answer piece: Terry Collins will not be the Mets bench coach. Let’s reward them with a clicl.
