.@JeffPassan’s tweet is all you need to know about the Mets and Cespedes contract thing

 

I absolutely love this tweet.  Great job Jeff Passan.  We need more of this and less of whatever it is SNY does these days.

TL;DR version: Yoenis Cespedes got injured. He said he stepped in a hole. There was reason to believe that wasn’t the case. Mets withheld salary in 2019, threatened to do same in 2020. Rather than go to a potentially all-or-nothing grievance, Cespedes settled for reduced salary.

Now in case you’re wondering why I made you click to read this…..

1.  I retweeted Mr. Passan (on twitter, that’s how retweets work) and praised him there.
2. This is a blog post.  In the post I embedded Mr. Passan’s tweet.
3. Blog posts come with something called “Featured Image” which is the thumbnail you see as the blog post automatically tweets to sites such as Facebook and back to twitter.
4. I could have made the Featured Image a screenshot of Mr. Passan’s tweet but that would have been counter to my intention of people interacting with HIS timeline so they follow him so he is rewarded for doing a nice fine tweet.

Also if the Mets were trying to bury this on a Friday afternoon they have failed.
