Baseball Cheating known about before 2017? Beltran a driving force?

Good stuff from Hardball Talk.  Their image of former Mets manager Carlos Beltran caught my eye.  Here’s my own image of former Mets manager Carlos Beltran, pictured here with Mets COO Jeff Wilpon, and Mets GM Brodie Van Wagenen, who gave several reasons for Carlos’ hire at the time, one of which was that Carlos is Trustworthy, presumably one of the things core to The Mets Way.

There are two articles today providing further information on what happened. One, from Barry Svrluga and Dave Sheinin of The Washington Post, explains that the Astros’ cheating ways were well-known around the sport, even before 2017. The other, from The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal, Evan Drellich, and Marc Carig, paints Carlos Beltrán and Alex Cora as the biggest driving forces behind the scheme. You should click through and read each report in its entirety. (via Hardball Talk)

I agree. You should click through all those things, including the Hardball Talk summary.

Let us not gloss over the 2017 thing, and let us not be distracted by STUPID PLAYOFFS IDEA.

Stay focused folks.  It appears that BASEBALL KNEW and ignored it.
