Baseball Hall of Immortals – Inductee #32: Yogi Berra

The Socrates of baseball, the man with more World Series rings than anyone else, Yogi Berra is the new 32nd inductee into the Hall of Immortals.

It’s been almost 60 years since Yogi played in his last game, and in that time the legend of the man who said incredibly smart things that didn’t make sense has grown far beyond what he did on the field, yet during his playing days there was nobody better behind the plate.

A 3-time MVP and 15-time All-Star, Yogi was an offensive machine at the plate, hitting 20_ homeruns for 10 consecutive years, and driving in 100+ runs in 5 of those years.  By the time he was done, Yogi had more than 350 homeruns, drove in 1,400+ runs, and scored almost 1,200 runs.

Yogi was not just an offensive threat though.  Behind the plate he was a workhorse, leading the American League in games caught for 8 straight years.

Without Yogi, this Hall would be nothing – he is an Immortal.
