Mets Game Notes vs Braves July 31 2020: Cano, Porcello, Vulgar Pete

My friends the Mets sent me some press notes for which I am appreciative, but I do want to call them out for this sin against Nature.

DON’T YA KNOW: Robinson Canó recorded a single as a pinch-hitter last night…He ranks third among active players in hits (2,576), RBI (1,273), total bases (4,177), extra-base hits (920) and in runs scored (1,237).

Leave that crap in the Bronx Mets.

Meanwhile, my favorite Mets player Rick Porcello will be on the mound.

LAST TIME OUT: Allowed seven runs, six earned, on seven hits in just 2.0 innings on July 26 vs. Atlanta…Was his shortest start since June 29, 2019 (0.1 innings vs. Yankees)…Was the ninth time he’s allowed at least six runs in a start since the beginning of last season.

With a win tonight, Porcello will become the 10th active pitcher to reach the 150-win milestone and would move into a tie for ninth among active players in career wins (also, David Price)…Porcello has won 149 games through 344 career appearances…Since 1995, only 12 pitchers have reached 150 career victories in 345 games or fewer.

The Mets continue to head fake everyone with notes like this about Vulgar Pete:  had his third career game with 4 hits!

And this!   Homestand: .529 (4-7), BB, 2 HB

But at some point everyone will need to look at this:  .222, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 0 SB
