Mets acquire Billy Hamilton, 700th Mets player this season

Anyone have any idea who is even on the Mets any more?  I don’t.  I can name the starting 8, plus Dom, plus the rotation and maybe three in the bullpen.  That’s 17.  Then there are 13 other people who may or may not be on the Mets at any given moment.  Apparently one of them used to be someone named Jordan Humphreys.

The New York Mets today announced that the club has acquired outfielder Billy Hamilton from San Francisco in exchange for RHP Jordan Humphreys.

Hamilton, 29, was part of the Giants’ 60-man player pool, but has yet to appear in the majors this season. He is a seven-year major league veteran who ranks third among active players with 299 career stolen bases. His 81.3 percent stolen base success rate ranks fifth among active players with at least 200 stolen base attempts. The switch-hitter appeared in 119 games between Kansas City and Atlanta last season, going 22-for-28 in stolen base attempts. He spent the first six years of his major league career with Cincinnati.

Since 2013, Hamilton ranks second among all centerfielders with 72 defensive runs saved and ranks second among all active centerfielders with 55 outfield assists and a .995 fielding percentage.

Humphreys, 24, was designated for assignment by New York on July 29. He was the Mets’ 18th round pick in the 2015 First Year Player Draft.
