The National League all-time leader in stolen bases is the 78th inductee into the Baseball Hall of Immortals.
For two decades, Lou Brock was the most dangerous player on the basepaths in the National League. Starting in his second full season, Brock stole 24 or more bases for 16 consecutive years, leading the league 8 times. For 12 straight years, from 1965 through 1976, he would top 50 or more steals, setting a new record of 118 in 1974.
Brock was more than just a base stealer though. In 8 of his 18 full seasons he batted .300 or better, and in 4 of them got 200 or more hits.
When Brock retired following the 1979 season, he had accumulated 938 stolen bases, more than anyone else in major league history (since surpassed by Rickey Henderson). Along with them he had a lifetime batting average of .293, more than 3,000 hits and 1,610 runs scored.
The fastest man in the National League is definitely an Immortal.
