Hmmm Mets on Syndergaard – “we wish him well” plus EXCITING GAME NOTES

Dominic Smith is batting .333/.419/.744 with 13 runs, 11 doubles, seven home runs, 24 RBI, 10 walks and a 1.163 OPS…He leads the Mets with seven home runs, 11 doubles and 24 RBI…He is tied for third in the majors and tied for second in the NL in doubles, tied for fifth in the NL and tied for 13th in RBI, tied for fifth in the NL and tied for ninth in the majors in extra-base hits…He has 18 extra-base hits in 78 at-bats this season and sports a 1.163 OPS…Smith hit 11 home runs in 177 at-bats last year…He matched his career-high with 11 doubles (also, 11 in 143 at-bats in 2018)…He hit 10 doubles in 177 at- bats last season…Dom recorded 25 RBI in 2019 and a career-high 26 RBI in 167 at-bats in 2017.

TOTAL DOM-INATION: Smith is four PA shy of being a qualified hitter…If he did qualify, his 1.163 OPS would rank second in the majors, while his .744 SLG would top MLB if only the Mets had not wasted two years of his career because he overslept once and are only letting him play because Cespedes went home.

Pete Alonso hit a rare home run yesterday, his 6th.  Pete has struck out 37 times in 130 Plate Appearances for a Kaverage of .284

Pete Alonso | INF | .220, 6 HR, 16 RBI, 0 SB

Yesterday, the Mets announced in conjunction with Major League Baseball that the Mets-Marlins game postponed on Thursday, August 27 will be made up on Monday, August 31 at 1:10 pm at Citi Field…Additionally, the Mets- Yankees game at Citi Field on Thursday, September 3 will start at 4:10 pm.

Is this a threat?  From the official game notes.

Noah Syndergaard is celebrating his 28th birthday today…We wish him well.

That’s how I talk about people I don’t like.   Look both ways before you cross the street Mr. Thor.
