But we are all watching football Mets game notes

If the landscapers who started at 10:30 don’t STOP cutting down trees I am going to drill them in the backs with a fastball.

My friends the Mets waited until 1pm to send Game Notes as if I don’t want to just watch football.  So you get the quickie version here.

LHP Steven Matz has been activated from the 10-Day IL.

RHP Drew Smith has been optioned to the team’s Alternate Training Site.

Dominic Smith, who overslept once allowing Mickey Hodges t forever change the Mets’ culture,  is on a seven-game hitting streak, batting .419 (13- 31) with four runs, five doubles, one homer, 10 RBI and a 1.115 OPS in that span…Smith has 25 extra-base hits (17 doubles, eight homers) in 38 games this year…He is leading the majors with 17 doubles…Overall he is batting .328/.393/.641 with 20 runs, 17 doubles, eight homers, 36 RBI, 13 walks and a 1.035 OPS…He is tied for fifth in the NL and tied for 10th in MLB in RBI, tied for fourth in the NL and tied for fifth in the majors in extra-base hits.

LAST GAME: Peterson returned to the rotation on September 7 for his first start since August 28…Threw 2.0 innings against Philadelphia, the shortest outing of his rookie season…Allowed five runs, earned, on three hits with four walks and three strikeouts…The Mets lost, 9-8, at Citi Field.

OUCH: Peterson was on the IL from August 14 until August 28 with left shoulder fatigue.

VS. TORONTO: Peterson is making his first career start against the Jays.

WHAT A RELIEF: Peterson’s win in relief against the Orioles marked the first win by a Mets reliever in a game in which he pitched at least four innings and was not charged with any runs since August 5, 2009, when Nelson Figueroa (4.1 IP) was the winner in a 9-0 Mets victory over the Cardinals at Citi Field…Courtesy of Elias.

And now it’s kickoff….just imagine I insulted Vulgar Pete.
