Is Luis Rojas good at managing major league baseball teams?

When we last saw Luis Rojas he was managing to miss an EIGHT team playoff.

Now I read nonsense like this…

“If you want to talk about some areas that have hurt us in the past even though we have some new personnel injected to the team, our defense has got to get better,” Rojas said. “That is one of our main things to work on during the spring.” (NY Post)

Right.  So let’s play Pete Alonso over Dom Smith at first, and let’s make Dom Smith run around on roller skates in Left Field.

Look, I get that True General Manager Sandy Alderson (don’t insult me by telling me Acting Regional General Manager Z. Michael Scott has any power.  He’s a lackey who will do paperwork and decide which bullpen guy to send down after long games.) ….I get that True General Manager Sandy Alderson really makes the calls here, and the Wilponian Mets have decided to play Dom in LF.

“Dom is going to get his share of time [in left] and we are comfortable with his defense,” Rojas said. “Dom has got a good feel, he plays hard, he always tries to get better out there and with the addition of Tony Tarasco … I know he is going to be seeing some new things there to keep developing his skills in the outfield.”

Then there’s this.

“I have talked to both of them (Lindor and Conforto)  and those two guys two of our leaders. We have several leaders here and though Lindor hasn’t been in the facility yet — he should be here in a few days when the position players report — he’s already portrayed as a leader.

Those are two of our leaders. Their presence is strong in the clubhouse. Their presence is strong out on the field. But my conversations with them, they have been strictly baseball in the offseason.”  (via Yahoo)

Excuse me, I have a question.

If a guy hasn’t been with the team yet, how can he be a leader and a good clubhouse presence?  Shouldn’t we let him meet the guys before we make such proclamations?

Second choice manager Rojas MISSED AN 8 TEAM PLAYOFF.  I’m not convinced he is good at this….and these new quotes give me little confidence.

I know you guys are all like ooooooo Uncle Steeeeve……but I don’t think this team is even close to as good as people think.

Before I go – whatever you do, DO NOT LOOK UP LINDOR’S 2020 STATS AND THEN LOOK UP CANO’S.  DO NOT DO THAT!!!!!
