Must Read: two Barrett Sports Media articles about how broken baseball is

Here’s a must read from Barrett Sports Media (thanks Sporty for the link!!)

After the Seattle Mariners lost to the Chicago White Sox 10-4, acclaimed Seattle Times Larry Stone columnist tweeted some scary numbers. “83 total plate appearances, which included 25 Ks, 9 BBs, 1 HBP & 3 HRs,” he wrote. “So 46 % of plate appearances resulted in no balls put in play. And it took 3 hours, 45 minutes. Unsustainable.” (via BSM)

which led me to THIS article titled NO STARS, OLD FANS: BASEBALL HAS REAL PROBLEMS.…hey that sounds very familiar, doesn’t it?

In about 20 different sports radio markets, I have proposed a challenge. Come out of a random commercial break and play a generic sound-byte from baseball’s best player, Mike Trout.  Give a T-shirt to the first listener (not the 9th or 10thcaller) who recognizes his voice.

..

On a different day, try the experiment again. Play a sound-byte from any of the following five former players. Sammy Sosa, Derek Jeter, Barry Bonds, or David Ortiz.  Would anyone listening NOT recognize their voices instantly?   (also via BSM)

I encourage you to read both articles.  The first one mentions the hypocrisy of the Texas Rangers not having Covid restrictions for the opener but THEN doing it.   BTW I tweeted this this morning – in the county in which the Rangers play, cases are up over 40% in the last 14 days.  THAT’S WEIRD ISN’T IT?

Anyway, it’s nice to hear someone else screaming about all this which increases the chances of you guys once again coming round and realizing I was right all along as always.
