Here’s a light recap of today’s press conference. Below are my live tweets.
Sandy spoke about “The Process” and explained that Billy is the only one who received an offer and the Mets totally didn’t want the other 15 guys.
Sandy also mentioned an “exhaustive” vetting process. I guess sometimes baseball teams hire bad choices.
Billy said he is “tremendously excited.”
Mets “committed to building championship caliber” organization this time.
Billy’s first Mets game was in 2005.
Billy said Mets “want to build and drive a culture words words inclusive words words high operational standards” and whatever eater buzzwords the lawyers and PR team suggested he say. Looking at Sandy, Steve and Billy it sure screams inclusive.
Mets want to “look for opportunities” and will look at free agent and trade markets, as exclusively reported by Mets Police around 11am.
Mets will also look at options in the OF and IF as well as pitching. That’s a real thing that was said.
Billy would like to find a manager who is “great in all areas.”
Lots of talk about the “Baseball Operations Group” Either one person is in charge or nobody is in charge. This sounds like bad organization.

Billy wants to increase Run Differential, so I guess he is OK with the Mets winning 22-7 then losing the next 10 games 1-0.
The owner said: : new GM “is a pro.” “Knows a lot about the game.”
New GM played it safe in Anaheim because he didn’t think they could overtake Houston! Wait until he finds out who won the 2021 World Series and what the division they play in!
Steve then made excuses for failure in 2021 saying there was first year learning. That is an excuse Steve. NO EXCUSES.
