WAR: Mets’ Jeff McNeil is twice as good as Pete Alonso

Pete Alonso wondering who could have possibly gotten Chili Davis fired.

Last decade there was a player named Daniel Murphy. I liked him a lot and thought he was a good baseball player.  Some younger fans knows as Millennials invented some new stats to show that Murphy wasn’t good.  One of those stats was WAR.

Nobody seems to talk about WAR these days now that it is inconvenient.

According to this morning’s WAR – Jeff McNeil has a 2.0 WAR, where as Pete Alonso has a 109th best 1.0 making him as irreplaceable as fellow MLB great Brendan Donovan

But hey you are probably over WAR now that it’s inconvenient, and will just quote OPS.  We can throw WAR on teh scrap heap with other “advanced” stats that people used to quote like Defensive Runs Saved (remember that?) or Pythagorean Record.

I don’t want to hear from you guys about HR and RBI – when I used to quote the traditional stats you told me I was doing it wrong.  Next thing you know you guys will be looking at SP Wins and ERA.
