Mets announce intention to regularly play games at 7:10pm Eastern!

What’s this?  Games at normal start times?  It’s a Christmas Miracle!!

RHP Adrian Houser (3-6, 3.92) vs. RHP Chris Bassitt (4-4, 4.35)

The next annoying start time is June 21 which is a not-awful 8:10 starting Houston followed by a 2:10 start.  Then – other than the insanity of weekday day games – there’s nothing to worry you until a weirdo trip to Oakland on SEPTEMBER 25,  The schedule is Milwaukee, Oakland then Miami – but the Mets will have clinched by then so they can let the AAAs play the A’s.

Maybe I will start watching games again!  Although I am not home tonight nor tomorrow.

The Mets have won eight straight home games and nine of their last 10 at Citi Field…Their current eight-game home winning streak is the longest of the season and their longest since they won 10 straight from July 25-August 10, 2019.

Overall, the Mets are 19-8 at home this year…They are second in the majors and top the National League with a .704 winning percentage at home…The Mets have posted a 3.22 ERA with 93 walks and 253 strikeouts at Citi Field this year… The team is hitting .271/.345/.441 at home…The team’s .271 average is second in the majors only behind the Colorado Rockies…The team’s .271 batting average at home is the fourth-highest total in franchise history…Only the 1987 (.278), 2009 (.274) and 1997 (.274) teams have faired better at home.

: Pete Alonso, who has the 57th best WAR last time I looked (40 runs/57 RBI) and Francisco Lindor (BOOOOOOOOOO) (40 runs/45 RBI) are two of five players in the majors with 40 or more runs and 40 or more RBI…They are the only set of teammates in the majors who have accomplished that feat…Courtesy of Sportrradar.

New York has won 40 games this season, the most in the National League…Their .645 winning percentage is second in the majors and is the best in the NL…The team has posted a 40-22 record through the team’s first 62 games…Only the 1986 (44-18) team posted a better record through the first 62 games of the season… The 1988 team also went 40-22…With a win tonight, the Mets would match their season-high of 19 games above .500.
