My 1986 Mets World Series VHS’s

One good thing about having to put the Christmas Tree away…I went into the attic and “found” my Mets VHS’s.  Yeah I knew they were there but figured they’d be cool to blog.

I know Game 1 is somewhere as is the NLCS.

I remember I used to sometimes take the commercials out because I was a teenager and didn’t have an infinite supply of VHS tapes.  However, I bet at least some of these have the commercials left in – especially Game 6 because I watched that in the living room with my Dad (well until the Top of the 10th when I went to my bedroom depressed), and I always taped in my room.

I know this series is out on DVD but as we will see next Tuesday…I have other goodies in my closet.

Morning Mets reading

I usually type Mets into Google to see what’s going on.  Several things this morning:

Jesse met Darryl Strawberry in 1987.

In the News, Denis Hamill writes about the Mets payroll but throws in this chuckle:

“I always want Mets fans on my juries,” said one noted defense attorney friend, a rabid Yankees fan. “They love losers, even three-time losers like some of my clients. And if Mets fans believe anything the Mets front office says, I can convince them to acquit anybody.”

On Yahoo Tim Brown reminds the country that the Mets have a high payroll but are paying for nothing. Thanks Omar.

Hardball Talk (one of my faves) says the Mets may not release Castillo.

The Post catches up with the blogosphere and notices K-Rod’s option kicks in after 55 finished games.   Next a WFAN host will notice.

So, in retrospect the only new item is Jesse’s story about meeting Straw.  The rest you’ve been reading on the blogs for months.

Pictures of Mets Opening Day 1973

Mike sent these over.  Very cool.  Click on them for bigger versions.

For those of you who like to rag on the Mets for attendance woes, assuming these are indeed of the opener (why would Mike lie) that’s what 27,326 looked like as Seaver bested Carlton in a tidy one hour and 56 minutes.

It’s always weird for me to see pics of Shea with the original seats and color scheme.   Mets Police 1980 probably complained about getting rid of the traditional green upper deck.  I’ll check the archives.

Pics always very welcome at [email protected]   Nothing is too small or too random, especially if it is from before 1990.

Hey Osh41, did we just not take any pictures all those years?  Dopes.
