Santana Scratched!!!!!!!

Oh no oh no oh no.  I was sad enough that we might lose Francoeur (do you trust the Mets staff with a ligament, I don’t)

Now I read Santana has been scratched from his next start with an elbow problem.  Newsday says Jerry Manuel is “terribly concerned.”

That’s it.  Shut him down.   Don’t bring Wright back.   Don’t bring anyone back.  This season is cursed.  Maybe Citi Field is cursed.

I’m not buying a brick because I don’t want the curse to rub off on me.

Anyone wanna volunteer to pitch every 5th day?  It’s not like the Mets have options.

Unbelievable.  Developing…

More New York Mets Citi Field Fanwalk Bricks On Sale

Just got this:

Dear Mets Plan Holder:

Many thanks for your ongoing support of the Mets during our Inaugural Season at Citi Field.

Among Citi Field’s most talked about attractions are the more than 18,000 Citi Field Fanwalk bricks outside of the entry to the Jackie Robinson Rotunda. Based on overwhelming response and interest, we are expanding the Citi Field Fanwalk program for the 2010 season with a new offering of Fanwalk bricks to be placed in 12 sections, with six sections along each of the first and third base sides of the Rotunda. Each section will commemorate an Amazin’ moment in Mets history.

We are pleased to offer our current Plan Holders the first opportunity to be part of the Citi Field Fanwalk: Amazin’ Moments through this special advance offer. These individually engraved bricks featuring your personalized messages – recognizing family, friends and favorite Mets players and moments – also will include the Mets script logo to become a permanent part of the Mets new home.

Bricks will be available in three styles:
8″ x 8″ brick engraved with the Mets script logo – includes four lines of text for $395.

TICKET PLAN HOLDERS may purchase the 8″ x 8″ logo brick for $340 (a 16% savings).
8″ x 8″ brick – includes six lines of text for $340.
4″ x 8″ brick – includes three lines of text for $195.

Each purchase of a Citi Field Fanwalk: Amazin’ Moments brick also includes a complimentary replica brick (with the same message), which makes a great gift. Additional replica bricks can be purchased for all styles; each additional replica will cost $125, $100 or $75 depending on style. Display cases are also available to help showcase your replica in your home or office.

Thank you again for your Ticket Plan purchase.

Inbox: ’69, Utley’s Corner, Tradition

Some quickies from the inbox:

Re:  Amazin’ 1969 New York Mets Celebaration“:

What is up with leaving out Boswell?

Howie Rose made a mistake.   Gary Cohen caught it and immediately addressed it on TV.  Unfortunate but we shouldn’t let it tarnish a great ceremony.

Re:  “Checking In On New Traditions For Citi Field“:

If we can’t have the fireworks have something cool like loud sirens or something cool..the apple is just too plain!!

Re:  “Utley’s Corner“:

Die hard Phils fan here…drove up to the game at Citi Field for last nights game…sat in Utley’s Corner and guy in front of me has big orange sign with “Utley’s Corner” on it…the Mets fans weren’t too happy when he put one about 10 seats down from us haha…

I know I am in the minority but I kinda like Utley’s Corner.  Hey give the man some props.  If he has a good game today he might become the all-time leader in home runs at Citi Field.   Maybe if someone on the Mets could hit some out we wouldn’t be talking about this.  Don’t get mad at the Phillies because they play 162 games every year.  Sometimes you have to respect the other guys.

As I’ve said before, had the Mets come back from 7 down with 17 to play, then came back again in ’08 to win the World Series we would be honoring this bunch like no other.   Hats off to the Phils.  Sorry if this makes people mad, but I’m not the one blowing leads and sitting out 5 months with a mysterious leg injury.

Re:  “The Mets Police Guide To Being Cheap About Parking…“:

Great tip thanks. Parked here today. No problems.

Thanks.  People got mad at me for giving away a “secret.”   Corona’s been there since 1964 everyone.  10 extra Mets Police readers won’t ruin anything.  Let me wrap up on a happy note;

DyHrdMET has left a new comment on your post “Amazin’ 1969 New York Mets Celebaration“:

I liked it. I thought the Mets actually did a good job (hard to imagine HOW they could have screwed this up, aside from omitting a player’s name). I said in my blog that Howie Rose showed more joy introducing the event and players than I’ve ever seen in him, including at Shea Goodbye.

And that’s a real interesting find by Newsday (good job finding it there) in the part about working with Nolan Ryan’s schedule and job to schedule the event. It’s an actual sign that Mets management “gets it” (and I never thought about his absence at Shea Goodbye at all before reading that story).

Shopping At The New York Mets Team Store (Part 11)

More shopping at the team store.  Today some pseduo-retro stuff.

Should I tell someone that Brooklyn didn’t wear names on the back?

Might be something to wear while watching Mad Men.  That’s a very Yankee Y in York.

I like this Mr. Met logo

I dunno…something to wear to the UFL game?

More tomorrow.  I told you I took 300+ pics.

Improbable Maybe, Impossible Never: The Words Of Tom Seaver At The 1969 New York Mets Celebration

Howie thank you very much, and all you fans of course another well deserved thank you to all of you.

People call us the Miracle Mets but nothing was impossible when you played for Gil Hodges.

Improbable maybe, but impossible never.

With the first championship we gave validity to a franchise.  It’s a thread that joins us as teammates to our children and our grandchildren, everybody on this ballclub and the fans, forever.

That perfect improbable glorious season when the 1969 Mets became World Champions.

You believed in us, we believed that we could make it happen and the trophy and the memories are ours forever, and the trophy serves as a memento that we were both correct.

We all cherish these memories, each and every day, each and every one of us, forever.

And on behalf of all of us standing out here in these white glorious Met home uniforms thank you all New York.

I think these are some of the best words said about the franchise and I would like to see the following words posted somewhere at Citi Field….just like Yankee Stadium has DiMaggio’s quote, I’d like to see this, which I think is quite fitting.

Improbable maybe, impossible never.
