35,157 at the Mets game Sunday

The paid crowd was 35,157 on Sunday.

Last year for Home Game 3 (vs. Florida) the Mets drew 25,982 on a Thursday.  The first Sunday crowd (against Washington) was 33,672 – so one could argue that ticket sales are gangbusters.

The first Monday night game didn’t happen until April 19th when 27,940 showed up at Citi.

Mets BP jerseys look great in person – even with black!

Yes black is a scourge on the face of the earth – but my main issue with the color is that it looks terrible on Mets merch.

However, I am wearing my new BP jersey for the first time and it looks pretty snazzy.  Even on a fat guy.  Plus it comes with number on the front!  So as the king of fairness, I will say that this jersey looks nice despite the blackness.

Here’s the jersey on actual Mets.  As Media Goon and I have been saying all spring – they look much better in person.

Perhaps an alt based upon this design (lets lose the underarm black) would make the Blue camp happy, generation Piazza happy, give the Mets something new to sell, and give the fashion conscious something they can wear on their dates.

What’s really scary is this is the third straight day I am wearing a jersey I’ve never worn before.

Season jersey standings:

In person:  Cream “me” 0-1.   Mazzilli white pins 1-0.

Wearing jersey but not attending:  0-0.

31,696: a bad attendance number for Mets or no?

Hoo boy am I late off the draw this morning.  Some times it’s nice to sleep in.

31.696 were in attendance last night.

In 2010, Game 2 – a Wednesday game drew 38,863.  The first Saturday game, also against the Nats, drew 33,044.

While at first glance I found the 31,696 number to be low – when I compare it to the 33k number it doesn’t seem so awful.

I had a great time at the game with my son and took a ton of pictures which I will poke away at as the days go by.  Here’s a cool thing you’ll find as you exit the museum and enter the store.  This figure moves and swings the bat.

If you’re the Mets and you don’t want to catch grief, maybe you should place the Dodgers stuff a little further away from the border of the museum and the store…

And speaking of the Brooklyn Dodgers – more on that tomorrow…what is the possible justification for selling Koufax jerseys?

Panorama Pics of Citi Field

I bought myself a new little camera a few weeks ago and wanted to try it out at Citi during the game.

Here is one pic of the empty Promenade seats at the beginning of the game.

This one is about the third inning.

Click the pics to make them larger.

You can see left field is empty. Half of the left field landing there is no one there either. At one point there was a Quebec Nordiques banner unfurled out there across a few rows of seats.

By the way it was freezing.I do not blame anyone for not showing up to the game tonight.  Thank you to my peeps in Sect 510 for letting me hang with you guys it was a lot of fun.
