Crowd shots from the Mets-Rockies game

via @muggles81

This is the Pepsi Porch early-ish in the game

And here’s one from around the 8th

Meanwhile – I am reading on the internet that the Yankees offered a ticket to another game to everyone who came to the Bronx tonight.  I don’t know that the Mets did or didn’t do such a thing – but if I were them I would.

Mets 24: three games in 24 hours

Three games in 24 hours.

Shaky bullpen.

It’s hard to sweep doubleheaders.

7-6 would be great. 4 and 9 a disaster’s disaster.

Time for Colactus’ crew to…..wait for it…….Man Up and Play Better

Unofficial: first series Mets ticket sales were up vs 2010!

@formerdirtdart sent this in. As the king of fairness I am happy to share this with you.

These numbers are unofficial but to my eye seem right. As always I leave it to you to decide if the site is accurate. Here’s Walt (@formerdirtdart):

Gleamed from the reported attendance (sold tickets), the Mets ticket sales for 2011 opening series were better this year, than last, and out did first weekend series too.

The Mets 2011 season home opening (1st weekend too) series, three games vs the Nationals (Fri, Sat, Sun), sold 107,928 tickets (avg 35,976 per gm).

Last seasons home opening series, three games vs the Marlins (Mon, Wed, Thur), sold 106,090 tickets (avg 35,363 per gm).

The first home weekend series, three games vs the Nationals (Fri, Sat, Sun), sold 94,771 tickets (avg 31,590 per gm).

Sucky: When Mets games get rained out and you’ve paid to park

“I get to Citi Field last night at about 6:45 pm.. Pay 19 bucks to park. I knew it might’ve been rained out, but since it’s my only day off, I give it a shot with my boy.. 13 bucks back and forth on the Whitestone.. They call the game at around 7:10. My gripe is that during this ‘sensitive/sucky’ time for a Mets fan, you’d think they’d give you a parking voucher for another game.. I’m not asking for a refund as I know that wouldn’t happen.. but for 19 bucks, they should do that service to fans when games are rained out in the way that they were last night.. Not that anyone cares, but with a middle class salary, no way I’m going back this year with this roster, and that type of policy the Mets and Citi Field have.

Dom, I think you make an excellent suggestion in the voucher.

I imagine the excuse will be that the parking is another concessionaire and the Mets have no control over it, just like the Mets arguably have no control over a sponsorship on the radio or the selling of Koufax jerseys.

What gets lost in that “its not the Mets” argument is that perception is reality. Who is Dom mad at? The Mets. Who will Dom take it out on? Not the Parking Company…the Mets.

I’m a big proponent of early rainouts (which are as rare as unicorns) so that people don’t make the trek to Queens for no reason, but I didn’t kill the Mets about last night because when I myself looked at the radar at 6:15 and thought there was a window.

How many people coiled have possibly been in the lot?

Does offering everyone a voucher make sense? Yep.

Would it really cost the parking company extra to let a few thousand extra cars park over the course of a season while using vouchers? I doubt it.

Good idea, and customer friendly.

I’m sorry that you had a lousy experience. The Mets read my site, maybe they’ll reach out to you. Dom can be found on the Mets Police page on Facebook where he originally posted this.

For want of $19, save a fan.

UPDATED:

I do try to be fair here….several people wrote me and said:

Joe:  The parking attendant told me that the receipt could be used whenever lasts nights game would be made up. So for example, I also paid for parking last night. I could use my receipt to park in the lot for tomorrow’s double header

Rose Anne:  I was told by the parking attendant to save my receipt in case it was rained out. She said it would be good at the make- up. I called the Mets today to confirm and they told me it was good for ANY future game this year! Finally, way to go Mets!

Good job by the Mets!!!!
