New York Jets TV Blackouts Coming?

Is it possible that Jets TV blackouts are coming?

While I understand that club level seats are not part of the tickets that count toward the blackout (so the 2010 Giants should be fine) – I was able to go on Ticketmaster and quite easily find two seats in section 333 for the September 20th game against the Patriots.  So that’s not a sellout as of September 1st.

The Jets once again have sent me an email seeing if I’d like tickets.  That’s the 6th such message so far, so they must be somewhat concerned.

Then if you read here you’ll see that it’s possible up to 12 teams could have blackouts.

The Times also got into this today, observing that the announced crowd was less than a sellout for Jets-Giants and that the Jets have seats left.

I hope the owners enjoy those PSL’s and club seats in the new stadiums.  The rest of us will be watching on TV – and if the games are blacked out, we’ll live.

Mets Police Stadiums Week Day Four: Pittsburgh’s PNC Park

As stadiums week continues, some great stuff courtesy of Tom.

Today we travel to Pittsburgh’s PNC Park.

The Pirates have something called a “statue.”   If the Mets could acquire such technology, they cut put a statue of Tom Seaver between the 7 train and the rotunda.

Tom writes:  here are sample pics for the mets to look at from my trip to pnc park in June 2009. The first pic of all the baseballs mounted in the glass case in over a condiment station in the club level……..they have these cases all over the stadium like this. instead of the mets trying to sell a game used ball from shea stadium for $500, maybe they should save them and display them. Heck it’s just an idea, but then the mets won’t be able to squeeze more $$ out of our pockets……..what was i thinking…………..

All these upper decks are starting to look the same to me.

I actually liked Three Rivers (I’m the one) so I bet PNC is awesome.

Really awesome. I bet Pirates fans wish I hadn’t put the Reverse Curse Of Bobby Bonilla on them.  (That’s when you wish a team ill for sending Bonilla to your team.)

Got stadium pics?  Send ’em [email protected]

So If The New York Mets Are Doing "Very Well" Financially They Can Spend Money On 2010, Right?

Some quotes related to the rumored financial woes in Flushing:

David Howard on Fox Business Network:

We have set from the outset that the losses incurred as a result of the of the Madoff fraud have not and will not affect the operation of the Mets…

So Dave, is there any financial stress at all in the Mets organization?

No.  We’re doing very well.  We’ve had a fabulous opening year at Citi Field….we are selling at 94% capacity, we sold over 3 million tickets this year.  The team and the organization..well the organization is doing well.

Fred Wilpon told the Times:
“I’m fine, my family’s fine, my business family’s fine.”

OK cool.

So my friends, if April rolls around and the Mets haven’t made any significant on-field improvements, if the plexiglass issue isn’t fixed, if there’s no statue of Seaver…it would not be because of money, right?  They are fine.  In fact, Dave Howard says they are doing “very well.”
94% capacity.  Should be little to worry about in my opinion.   Seems like little reason to cut payroll right?  All is well.  I’m thrilled, I’m looking forward to 2010!

Another Call To Bring Back Bobby Valentine To The New York Mets (Ya Gotta Believe)

Over at  Ya Gotta Believe Eddie D’Anna has an open letter to Fred, calling for the return of Bobby Valentine.

We wrote a month ago that part of the 2010 marketing plan will need to be distraction.  While V is not a favorite of mine (I don’t like finishing second), I think he’s a good choice for this offseason.  They can’t try to sell us on “everyone is healthy, really” and head into 2010 with Murphy/Castillo/Reyes/Wright/Someone/Beltran/Francoeur/Santos and Santana and Nobody.

The News also has 2010 on their minds today.

Cheap Tickets Available For New York Mets Bobblehead Sunday (and Mr. Met Dash)

Don’t forget this weekend is K-Rod Bobblehead Day plus another Mr. Met Dash, both on Sunday.

I took a look at Stubhub this morning…I stay away from the auctions but at 9am you could have bought “buy it now” seats for $10.

If you want to go on Saturday you could get in for $9 last time I checked.

I can’t wait to see how little I will get for the Wednesday and Thursday tickets I can’t use, and I still wish the Mets would adopt a ticket exchange policy similar to the Yankees.
