Mets announce 2011 ticket prices

UPDATED: if you are a regular reader, new content follows below this post. This one is drawing lots of attention so I want to leave it up top.

The screengrabs are from mets.com at around 9am Tuesday.

UPDATED 8:25pm:  The links in this post have been deactivated by mets.com   This morning they brought you to the dates listed according to each type of game marquee/value etc.

Thanks to Peter and Robert for immediately sending this in.

The Mets have released ticket prices and…well…it’s more confusing than ever.

The pricing scheme features row differentials (that’s new right?) and different classifications.

The “Marquee” dates (where it will cost you $45 to sit in Prom Res Infield) are Opening Day and Yankee games.

There are 22 Premium Games…at first glance looks like Fri/Sat/Sun.

25 Classic Dates seems to be a mix of NL East teams and random Fri/Sat/Sun games

The Value Games are the rest of the weekday leftovers, although you can see the World Champion Formerlys.

I have to digest this before I can comment but at first glance it seems absurd and expensive and I am finding myself angry.

Formerly New York Giants win the World Series!

Good morning Formerly’s Fans!

I had a great night the couch, Junior at my side. I slapped on my orange SF-less Giants jersey for probably the last time for some time (less I look front-runnery), Mrs. MP fell asleep allowing Junior to cheat his bedtime, so father and son watched the World Series.

I thought of my own father. In ’54 did he think the Giants would never win again in his lifetime? To think there were only three seasons left of Giants baseball? The team had been to the WS twice in four seasons and yet would soon leave. The “golden age.” Unreal.

The Giants were never mentioned around the house when I was a kid, so it’s not like we were SFG fans then nor am I one now.

Someone had to win the series, and if not the Mets why not the team of my ancestors? I am happy for them, as the franchise picks up a 6th championship and gets people to talk about the first five instead of whining about the stupid team from Brooklyn.

56 years is a long time. In Mets years that would be the equivalent of 2044. I will be an old man watching that World Series with my grandson and many if not most of the 1986 Mets will be dead. Lets hope Sandy can get us one (or ten) between now and then.

Looks to me like Mets Saturday plan-holders will get stuck with weekday tickets

As I mentioned yesterday (and traffic is always down on the weekend so I mention again), there are only 13 Saturday games on the 2011 schedule.

The Mets are offering deposits on 15 game plans.

It is entirely possible that the Mets will also offer a 13 game plan, say “Saturday Only” or “Sunday Only” in addition to these 15 game plans…but in my opinion the wind is blowing in another direction.

I think I could live with all 13 Saturday games plus two crappy Tuesday Pirates games…..but the 10/5 thing really rubs me the wrong way.

Discuss!
