New York Mets blood drive

From this morning’s Flushing Flash, three things of interest

1.  A video of Doc & Darryl, but as I have previously observed, MLB might go out of business if I were able to embed a video.

2.  Goodness:

Mets Blood Drive
The Mets will be hosting their annual Winter Blood Drive for the New York Blood Center this Wednesday, January 27, in Citi Field’s Caesars Club from 10 am to 5 pm (First Base VIP Entrance). Donors must be 17 years of age (16 with parental permission), weigh at least 110 lbs and be in good health. Each donor will receive a pair of tickets to a select Mets game in April. Bring ID with photo or signature. Call 1-800-933-BLOOD for more information.

3.  Mets interestingly are being clear about the Hall of Fame Sunday ticket plan thing:

Want to see the induction ceremony in person? Guarantee your seats now to the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony Sunday, August 1, with either the Weekend Plus Plan or the 40 Game Plan A.

Again, if you bought a Sunday Plus plan and expected to have this game in your package…sorry.

Pictures: Inside the Mets fan event (includes retro jerseys)

Courtesy of Osh41, here’s some shots from last week’s fan event at Citi Field.

Not that it’s a new thing, but I like seeing Hojo in uniform.  It’s so nice to have the 1986 Mets around.

John Maine.

So there’s a player’s “retro” out in the wild, on an actual player.  It does look better than the consumer versions I’ve seen in stores.  This looks less yellow.

This shot is from Peter (king of the photo hookups) who suggested I credit johnql of baseball-fever.com, so I shall.  Thanks John!

More tomorrow.

Photos: Mets Museum construction and orange stairs

Nothing revolutionary here, but I figured I should start sharing some of the photos I’ve been sitting on pending the new site-host; this batch courtesy of Osh41 and they are from last week’s ticket holder gathering the Mets held.

Here’s a shot from the outside.

I will miss the giant store.  I guess someday all those pics I posted over the summer will make for a “remember when there was a store in the rotunda?” post.

Don’t get me wrong though,  I will take a museum over a store any day.  One thing Citi does not lack is stores.  Here’s another view of the orange paint job.

That’s all for tonight.  Tomorrow morning an update on the Blue Cap Army and pictures from the actual event.

Great pic of Doc and Darryl (link)

Big League Stew has an awesome photo of Doc and Darryl, check out their cool jackets!  Blue and orange!  I’d post the pic but that’s thievery (Honor among bloggers) and BLS has been cool about sending traffic over here….so away you go to the link.

Gooden looks like he’d be the second best starter on the Mets.  He’s 45, do you think they could squeeze 6 wins out of him to get hom to .500?

It sure would sell tickets!
