Forbes: New York Mets A Drag

Forbes magazine has ranked cities by their Sports Hotness.  NYC is #3.

The following is their words:

The recent drag on New York pro sports scene? The lowly Mets, who haven’t made the playoffs since 2006 (when they lost the NLCS to the St. Louis Cardinals).

They also mention we have a zillion teams and only the Giants won a championship.

Good stuff here.

If LA Doesn’t Want To Watch, Start Earlier!

A good breakdown of “nobody in SoCal cares” – and yet we start football games and baseball playoff games unnecessarily late.   Half the population of the US lives in the east!

Published: October 20, 2009
Ratings in New York and Philadelphia have been stronger in the league championship series, and history suggests that the California numbers are not an aberration.

Alternate Caps: NLCS Game 5 Edition

As a bonus edition of “Alternate Caps” we salute the NLCS:

I thought the Phillies looked good in the 1970’s.   I liked the blue road jerseys.  I liked these caps.   Feel free to rip me, but I think they looked better then than they do now with their neo-retro design.

The Dodgers have a very classic look (and a nice rotunda in Queens).  Why mess with it?  You don’t need to buy this, just get a regular Dodgers hat.

This is a cool move if you’re a Phillies fan.   I think it’s a 1930 retro.  I don’t know what was special about 1930 (weren’t the Philly A’s cool back then?) but I dig the P.

Did you ever find yourself thinking – if only the Dodgers were more like the 1976 Pirates?   Then this is the cap for you.

All these caps can be found at Hat Club.

Nitpicking Yankees Ticketmaster Fees

I hate this crap. A convenience charge, an ordering processing fee AND a tickefast charge to print out the ticket – even though there was no other option, and I paid a convenience charge.   Insulting.

In better news I will be at Game 1.  It’s the World Series, don’t be a hater.
